This time, our guest was Topman Kogyo , a manufacturer of bias tape!

What is Topman Industries?

For those of you who are wondering, let me first give you a simple explanation of Topman Industries as a company.

Topman Industries was founded in Osaka as a manufacturer of textile materials.

Topman Kogyo is a well-known name in the Kansai region, but in fact its expansion into the Kanto region is a relatively recent event. The company is always trying new products, and began handling roll projectiles five or six years ago, and continues to take on new challenges.

In 2019, we opened a factory in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and just as we were getting started, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Business declined and we were in quite a pinch for a while, but the strength of our products was recognized, and we have now grown into an incredible manufacturer that is solely responsible for production for a well-known apparel manufacturer.

They expect to manufacture in ASEAN in the future.

We have three main businesses, but the Development Division is in charge of bias tape processing.

In addition to developing new products, they are also happy to accommodate special requests, such as attaching interlining to your existing textile and processing it into a bias stitch (please feel free to contact us if you are interested!)

There were many other processes, such as lamination and fusion bonding, that got me excited just hearing about them.

The company also has three other divisions: the Lifestyle Division, which is responsible for planning, developing, and producing health (care) miscellaneous goods, and the National Brand Division, which develops its own products (taping, insoles, etc.) with a beauty and health theme.

The well-known bias cut is when woven textile is cut at a 45° angle to make it more stretchy and usable for edging, etc.

By the way, cutting at an angle of 22-23 degrees is called half bias.
